The launch of Phuket Global I Care or GIC Card took place on Saturday evening at Jungceylon shopping complex in the tourist area of Patong. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Phuket Vice Governor Smith Palawatwichai and was well attended by tourists. The Phuket Chamber of Commerce chairman Dr. Sirichai Silpaar-cha was also present. The card was initiated by Australian Global I Care and said to be a new lifestyle loyalty program offering various advantages to the cardholder. It is set up under the scheme ‘people helping people’ and designed for every segmentation. Every transaction the card holders make, means their points would contribute to charities. Phuket is the second regional province in Thailand after Pattaya where Global I Care introduced the card scheme, before expanding to major tourist destinations and the capital city of Bangkok. It is expected to stimulate spending and shopping among tourists.
